Microsoft Promises More With Dynamics AX 2012

Microsoft is promising easier implementation and less customisation with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, due in August of this year. With inbuilt features for up to five industry sectors: manufacturing, professional services, distribution, public sector and retail, they promising less workaround. According to Mike Ehrenberg, Microsoft Technical Fellow, the upgraded version is adaptable, simple and will be more than a business data repository.

With less work around, businesses can expect the application to work with establish processes as it comes with prebuilt capabilities to match each business sector. "Offering five in one answers a real need that customers have to integrate solutions across industries. It gets organizations up and running faster, saves integration costs, and it supports greater accuracy across the application — meaning users get a single version of the truth," said Ehrenberg.

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 uses Microsoft SQL as the default data management system throughout the application, extending it business intelligence capabilities above its previous versions.

"We've engineered to simplify every aspect of the system from installation through deployment, implementation, customization, user experience and upgrades," said Ehrenberg. Wherever possible, processes were overhauled to remove steps, eliminate opportunities for error and streamline the interaction between technology and people.

Microsoft said Dynamics AX 2012 is agile, adaptable and can evolve.  It is adaptable in that it supports right out of the box the unique requirements for business systems in 38 countries, including multiple currencies, time zones and languages, as well as compliance with multiple banking and reporting standards and legislative codes.
